Theme and Visuals

The mesmerizing Norse mythology has inspired many designers and programmers to recreate that feeling of godly power. However, many of them didn’t manage to bring it to their game, but Thunderstruck II is the one free online slot machine that successfully achieved that thrill, even though the graphics are classic.

Microgaming created a perfect blend of decorations, animation and sound that fits the theme perfectly. The background is a simple wall struck by lightning which captures the essence of Thor’s unmatched power and its color emphasizes the gameboard. The frame of this slot machine is ornated with traditional Norse symbols with lightning animations that will really take you back to the days of the gods. The reels have gorgeous images representing the gods and their magical realm.

The animations are closely related to the theme and really make you wonder how it would’ve been to live in Asgard and fight in the name of Odin. The background music is also very on point and its tempo increases as you are getting closer to the special features of the slot machine.

Symbols

The developers really pulled it off with their choice of symbols. There are two sets, one with high-win icons, that are represented by elements related to the Norse mythology:

• 5 Thor symbols bring you 500 coins;
• 5 Odin icons reward you 450 coins;
• 5 Loki icons give you 400 coins;
• 5 Valkyrie symbols give 350 coins;
• 5 Asgard symbols reward 300 coins;
• 5 Knarr ship icons give you 250 coins;

The other set contains the low-win icons, which will reward you 150, 125 or 100 coins if you combine 5 identical ones on adjacent reels from left to right.

Gameplay

The Thunderstruck II slot comes with a one-of-a-kind gameplay. You have 3 rows with 5 reels each and 243 ways to win.

There are two special symbols to look out for that will trigger bonus rounds. These are Thor’s hammer which represents the bonus icon and the game logo which represents the Wild icon and can trigger a very thunder-y event that will increase your chances of winning big even more!
